Professor Dr. Karl Kordesch, one of the top scientist in the world on Fuel Cell and Battery technology, passed away on January 12, 2011 at his home in Eugene, Oregon. Dr Kordesch was a Director and Vice President of Apollo Energy Systems, Inc. and head of Apollo's fuel cell program, having joined the Company in 1997. He made a tremendous contribution to Apollo on Alkaline Fuel Cell technology and brought to Apollo 150 patent in Fuel Cells, Batteries and related products. He was in charge of Apollo's Fuel Cell Development Program at the Technical University of Graz, Austria from 1997 to 2007 heading a team of scientist and engineers, three of whom received their PhDs on Alkaline Fuel Cells under this program.
Dr. Kordesch will be replaced by Dr. Peter Kalal, a protégé of Dr. Kordesch. Dr. Kalal worked as a research associate under Dr. Kordesch at the Technical University of Graz for five years.
