Apollo Energy Systems, Inc. (AES) has taken over the technology, developments and customers of its Licensor, Electric Fuel Propulsion Corporation (EFP) and has fallen heir to everything that was accomplished by EFP (EFP is now a technology holding company with 120 shareholders but no operations.)  Therefore, AES's history starts with the formation of EFP in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1966 and the landmark test of the MARS I Electric Car by Shilstone  Testing Laboratories  in that year which showed that the MARS I had a useful cruising range of 120 miles on a charge, something unheard of for electric cars of that time.

6-month Test of MARS II Electric Car by General Motors and Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory showing a range of 146 miles on a charge
1968

Great Transcontinental Electric Race between California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) won by Caltech in a Volkswagon Van equipped with Lead Cobalt Batteries and an EFP electric motor
1970

Clean Air Car Race between MIT and Caltech won by two EFP electric vehicles driven by students of Cornell University (first place), and Stevens Institute of Technology (second place), both electric cars equipped with Lead Cobalt Batteries.
1974

Lease of two EFP Transformer I Electric Cars to London Towne Livery Service of Beverly Hills, California for use in transporting movie stars between their homes and Los Angeles International Airport.  * *

Design and construction of two Silver Volt Electric Cars by EFP in Detroit equipped with Lead Cobalt Batteries.  * *
1980

Assembly of twelve Silver Volt Electric Cars in Freeport, Bahamas by a licensee of EFP, Electric Auto Corporation (Bahamas) Limited.
1980

307 mile Road test of Silver Volt Electric car by Detroit Testing Laboratory demonstrating the fast chargeability of the Lead Cobalt Batteries.
1980

Lease of six Silver Volt Electric Cars to London Towne Livery Service in Beverly Hills, California for transportation of movie stars and celebrities in Southern California. * *

Establishment of 4-Car Fast Charge Station at the Marriott Hotel at the Los Angeles International Airport. Subsequent establishment of five additional Fast Charge Stations in California. * *

Verification road test by New York attorney driving Silver Volt 150 miles from Beverly Hills, California to Tijuana, Mexico in 3 hours.
1988

Construction of battery plant in China for production of Lead Cobalt Batteries
